Calling Emergency & Critical Care Veterinary Technicians
Ready for a fulfilling and exciting career? Interested in leading the field of veterinary medicine while helping to shape the next generation of veterinary professionals? The University of Florida has the job for you.

CUTTING EDGE PATIENT CARE
We are looking for energetic new veterinary technicians to join our Intensive Care Unit and Emergency Room team. You will take care of a range of patients including common emergencies such as lacerations and urinary obstructions, patients presenting with severe trauma, sepsis or envenomation as well as patients needing mechanical ventilation or hemodialysis. Our ICU also provides post-operative care to patients undergoing extensive surgeries including oncologic surgeries and cardiac procedures. There is plenty of exposure to advanced patient care – we are the largest veterinary hospital in the southeast, treating more than 50,000 patients annually.
GET PAID AS YOU LEARN
New to emergency and critical care but excited to learn? Great! You will join a group of recently graduated veterinary technicians and we will spend the first three months training you in everything from basic to advanced emergency critical care skills through a combination of didactic lectures, laboratory experiences and hands-on experience on the hospital floor. Your initial training will be provided by our Veterinary Technician Specialists (VTS) and ECC faculty. You will be assigned a mentor from our senior doctors and technicians who will be your go-to person as you get settled in.

CAREER AND COMPENSATION
Starting salary for new graduates is very competitive and includes extensive benefits like paid leave and comprehensive healthcare. Additional compensation is provided for overnight and weekend work. We value your qualifications and prioritize the career development of our technicians – you will have the opportunity to develop advanced clinical skills and to progress in your position at UF in a structured career ladder. We encourage our technicians to pursue VTS certification in their area of work and provide support for preparing for the VTS exam.
CAREER-LONG EDUCATION
Education is what sets us the University of Florida apart. We are here for our patients, our students and our team. Our technicians have access to regularly scheduled continuing education, as well as funded opportunities to attend outside conferences. As you develop your skills and confidence, we will encourage you to participate in teaching our DVM students and technicians who follow you as we continue to shape the future of veterinary medicine.
Email us at vm-recruiter@vetmed.ufl.edu with any questions. We look forward to welcoming you to our team!
