Resident Parking and Decals

Parking decals run from July 1 – June 30.

You can purchase your decal:

  • IN PERSON PURCHASE:  New Housestaff will do best to purchase their PARKING DECAL in person anytime in June before starting work.  The in-person purchase will allow you to begin using your decal immediately.  UF Transportation and Parking Services Office is located at 254 Gale Lemerand Drive on campus at the corner of Mowry and Gale Lemerand about 2 blocks from the hospital  http://campusmap.ufl.edu/.  There are metered spaces to park in while you purchase your decal.  Be sure to have your drivers license and your vehicle’s license plate number.  You may pay for your decal via payroll deduct, cash, check or credit card.
  • ONLINE PURCHASE & RENEWAL:   Payment will be via payroll deduction and the decal will be mailed to the address listed with UF.  Decals can be used as soon as you take possession of them.  https://www.bsd.ufl.edu/decal/Order/start.asp

Parking Decal Options:

  • House Staff have the same parking options as all faculty and staff at the College of Veterinary Medicine.
  • You may opt to purchase a Blue Decal — Available to eligible Health Science Center faculty and staff. This allows the holder to park in Blue, Green, and “Any Decal” parking areas.
  • You may opt to purchase a Green Staff Commuter Decal — Available to faculty, staff, full-time OPS employees and part-time OPS employees not affiliated as a student. This allows the holder to park in Green (except Garage 7 at the O’Connell Center) and “Any Decal” parking areas.
  • GATED PARKING: There is a gated parking lot located near the front of the Small Animal Hospital. This lot is NOT for faculty, staff or student use and is only for clients.

PARKING – SAFETY AND SECURITY:  There are several escort options for all housestaff.

  • SNAP – 392-SNAP, 6:30pm – 2:00am regular semesters, 8:30pm to 2:00am summer semester.  (Student Nighttime Auxiliary Patrol) SNAP provides nightly escorts anywhere on campus to persons on request. The service is staffed by students equipped and supervised by the university police department.
  • Gotcha Ride is an eco-friendly, 100% battery powered transportation service that provides free rides for students and faculty. Gotcha Ride currently has five specially-designed vehicles currently operating on  the University of Florida campus, each of which can safely accommodate up to 5 passengers.The service runs Thursday – Saturday from 8:00 PM – 3:00 AM, providing transportation throughout theUF campus and to nearby surrounding areas. Daytime transportation is also provided free of charge for patients and visitors at Shands Hospital Monday – Friday from 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM.   • University Police Department UPD – If you are ever uncomfortable with your personal safety and security on UF property, call 9-1-1 and an officer will be dispatched to you immediately.  General UPD service can also be reached at 392-1111.
  • BLUE LIGHTS – Emergency telephones on the UF campus are connected directly to UPD.  These blue light phones are located in each of the parking garages.
